   The first “New Sound” album has the original eight songs plus four more - all Les Paul instrumentals. Volume 2 is a mix of Mary Ford vocals and Les Paul instrumental tracks. The song “Jazz Me Blues” was included on the original ten inch version of “New Sound Volume 2”, but was dropped from the lineup on the twelve inch release.5/5(5).

   Les Paul's New Sound, Vol. 2 catches the new team of Les Paul and Mary Ford just as they were hitting it big, although you'll find only one of their hit singles on the original ten-inch album ("Just One More Chance"/ "Jazz Me Blues"). Nevertheless you can hear Paul's recording technique sharpening further now that he is recording on tape, and everywhere, one can sense his knack for making.

   A year later, In , Les Paul & Mary Ford were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Les Paul has won countless awards, the latest being in , at the age of 90, when he won two Grammys for the album American Made World Played by Les Paul & Friends. Despite the onset of arthritis, Paul continues to perform weekly at the Iridium club in New.

   Les Paul's New Sound, made the following year, is subtitled "The New Sound, Vol. 2" and features Ford's vocals on about half of the tracks, usually accompanied only by Paul's multi-tracked guitar. The gospel song "Don't Cha Hear Them Bells" is the one exception, with the fullest and most conventional-sounding arrangement on the album.
