"Life Is a Long Song" is a song composed by Ian Anderson and first recorded by Jethro Tull. It was released as the lead track on an EP in July , reaching No. 18 in the UK charts. It later appeared on the compilation album Living in the Past.. The song is centred around Anderson's acoustic guitar playing, and the lyrics talking about everyday life, concluding that "the tune ends too.

Jethro Tull: Living With The Past (DVD) As one of my favourite bands from the late 60's and 70's and having had the pleasure to see them play live in Sydney on 3 occasions (yes, they actually toured down under!), I was very keen to pick up one of their retrospective DVD's for nostalgia's sake.

A Song for Jeffrey Lyrics: Gonna lose my way tomorrow / Gonna give away my car / I'd take you along with me / But you would not go so far / Don't see what I do not want to see / You don't hear.
